A DETERMINED APPOINTED SEASON

Acts 17:26 (ASV) “and he made of one every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation;.”

Devotional Thought

My wife was traveling from Nigeria to Malaysia some years ago, and her experience at DOHA (Hammad International Airport) while connecting the flight to Kuala Lumpur got me thinking. Her departure was planned for 1:00 a.m., and she arrived in DOHA from Lagos just in time to catch her plane to Kuala Lumpur. She asked a group of individuals she encountered at the boarding gate about their destination, and they also happened to be traveling to Kuala Lumpur. But she should have also asked them what time their flight was.

My wife had no idea it was time to board, but she sat comfortably with this group because they were heading to the same place. She began to feel uneasy among them, knowing that her flight was due at 1:00 a.m. As a result, she dug more and learned that these groups were waiting for a 7:00 a.m. trip, so she dashed to the counter to inquire about the 1:00 a.m. departure, only to discover that they were already on board and would soon be traveling. She would have missed her flight if not for God’s kindness.

Never assume that our time and season are the same because our dreams and assignments are the same. Seasons may differ, and particular assignments may be complementary. Jesus and John were born six months apart, with complementary roles, but John knew his time, and Jesus knew His. If you miss your departure time, you may still get to your destination, but at a higher cost.

Today, some men and women are paying an extra cost for missing their “kairos” moment. Going to the same location does not imply going at the same time. Be mindful of your time and season as you celebrate with men and women on the same path of fulfillment as you. Your take-off time may differ from others, even though you were called to the same life goal. There is a predetermined appointed season for you; don’t trade it for money, comfort, or company. In the name of Jesus Christ, you will not miss your flight of destiny.

Let’s Talk About It.

Are you up-to-date with God’s timing for your life?

Father, I ask for the restoration of time and season that I have missed ignorantly in the name of Jesus Christ.
