A Wonderful Friendship with Jesus

1 Corinthians 1:9 (TLB) “God will surely do this for you, for he always does just what he says, and he is the one who invited you into this wonderful friendship with his Son, even Christ our Lord.”

Devotional Thought

When reading this scripture today, an old song came to heart, “When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and all He has done for me, my very soul shall sing Halleluiah, praise God for saving me”. Don’t you think God is worthy to be praised?

He has done so much for us, that we cannot begin to mention them in this short devotional. God raised us up together with Jesus Christ. He made us sit together with Him, in the heavenly places. The Father has also invited us, into a wonderful friendship with His Son. What a wonderful God we serve.

Salvation is not an end in itself; it is a means to an end. We were called into salvation, and invited into a wonderful friendship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. The goal of salvation is more than escaping hell, it is an arrangement for a rewarding friendship and fellowship with Jesus Christ.

The disciples were with Jesus for a space of three and a half years, and at a point, Jesus said to them, I no longer call you servants, I call you friends. From the beginning He was not just looking for servants to serve Him, He was looking for friends to share life and assignment with.

I know you have been saved and fit for heaven; but heaven can begin on earth as you cultivate a wonderful friendship with Jesus Christ. Friendship grows and flourish into intimacy, as friends spend time together. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into a rewarding and refreshing friendship with Jesus Christ.

Let’s talk about it.

What steps will you take this week to take your friendship with Christ to another level?
