Devotional Thought

Scriptures associate pride with shame, contention, destruction, dishonour, failure, the list continues. The fall of Lucifer, the archangel can be traced to the problem of pride. Nebuchadnezzar the king was driven, into the forest to feed on grass and crawl, like an animal, for seven years, because of pride.

Saul the king lost the throne, through pride. King Herod was smitten, and eaten, by worms, because of pride. Pride brought the life of the foolish rich man, to a sudden end. Judas Iscariot died shamefully because pride did not allow him, to confess, and repent of his sin.

Pride has never made its victims better; it always leaves them worse, than it met them. I declare over your life, that pride shall never have a hold on you, in the name of Jesus Christ.

The end of the proud is always marked with shame, while the story of the humble always ends with honour. The Bible says, “But He gives more grace; Therefore, He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” God resists the proud, but He assists the humble.

How can a man succeed when God resists him? How far can anyone go, without the grace of God? You achieve more, and rise higher, with humility, because humility draws on all the resources at the disposal of grace.

Listen to the testimony of the humble: Paul said, “I am what I am, by the grace of God.” Grace answers to humility, and greatness is the product of grace. Don’t let pride take a hold of you, embrace humility with all of your heart.
