Most people are generally prone to adversity, in spite of their closeness to opportunity. They walk past their open doors every day, without paying attention to them. But the same people never lose sight of the evil happenings, though it be a distance away from them. Sincerely, there is a need to teach the people on how to recognise opportunity when they see it.
The Bible says, “Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” Ephesians 5:16-17 (NLT). But how do you make the most of the opportunity you cannot recognise.
We must be more conscious of the possibilities around us, because they are pathways to dominion in life. Opportunities are designed and ordained for man’s lifting. Whenever God answers a man’s prayer for a change of level, He brings along his path favourable openings, that matches his skill and gifting.
How do you recognize your opportunity? Periodically, it may come packaged as a problem that demands solution. Any need you identify, that falls within your ability to solve is your opportunity. It may come with no monetary value or promising reward; but if it fits your capacity, it is your chance.
Joseph was endowed with the ability to interpret dreams. When God was ready to promote him in Egypt, He brought the butler and the baker into the same prison with him. In a short while, they both had a dream, that needed Joseph’s intervention.
Their problem was exactly what Joseph was empowered and equipped to solve, and he did not waste any time in rising to the need of the moment. Although the dividend came two years later, but it’s worth the sacrifice. Joseph’s long-awaited dream was fulfilled through the power of one opportunity.
Father, help me to be sensitive to the opportunities around me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
What does it feel like, to seize the moment, or miss an opportunity?
