Living According to Your Word

Psalms 119:9 (TNIV) “How can those who are young keep their way pure? By living according to your word.”

Devotional Thought

Iniquity is on the increase every day; and it is not surprising, because the Bible already told us, it is going to be one of the end time markers. Today, young people are faced with more temptations than their parents faced, when they were of their age. Iniquities have multiple points of entry now, through advance technological development.

Wherever you turn your face, there you see them, whether you are looking for them or not; temptation is everywhere. Yet, God’s demand for purity remains the same, “Be ye Holy as I am holy.”  What is the way out of this?

The Psalmist in his days as a young man, was also faced with this dilemma, he searched for the way out, and found it. He said, “How can those who are young keep their way pure? By living according to your word.” He said, “Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Victory is Possible

Living according to God’s word is only possible, when God’s word is hidden in our heart. How we live on the earth is traceable, to what lives in our heart. A man cannot live a better live than what lives in his heart. The Bible says, out of the heart proceeds evil thought, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. If iniquity is what lives in your heart, iniquity will always prevail in your life.

We need to replace all these vices, with the word of God. If I can change the content of my heart, I can change my conduct on the earth. The word of God carries the nature of God and the grace of God, when our heart becomes a permanent residence for the word of His grace, our lives will become graced, with the ability to live above the prevailing iniquities of our days. As iniquities abound on the earth, His grace must abound in our heart.

Let’s Talk About It.
