(Job 1:9-10 NKJV) “So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10. “Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”
Living within God’s protective hedge is the secret to protection, from satanic harassment and oppression—many individuals in the bible enjoyed this reality. A thorough examination of their testimonies showed, that there are secrets to accessing this reality. Thus, in this short devotional, we shall consider one of the secrets of living within God’s protective hedge.
Job is one of the bible characters, whose testimony validated the reality of living within God’s protective hedge. Having failed in his several attempts against Job, the devil admitted that God’s protective hedge was around Job.
The devil said, “Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.” – (Job 1:10). Job enjoyed protection from evil.
How did Job secure God’s protective hedge around his life? The secret is found in Satan’s accusation against Job. The Bible says, “So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Job accessed God’s protective hedge by walking in the fear of God.
Job feared God, and God established a protective hedge around Job. The fear of God talks about a reverential disposition towards God and everything connected to Him. What God did for Job, He will do for anyone that fears Him, because He is not a partial God.
How can one develop a reverential disposition towards God and everything connected to Him?
Father, baptize me with the Spirit of the fear of God, in Jesus’ name.
