Proverbs 25:28 (CEV) “Losing self-control leaves you as helpless as a city without a wall.

The Wall of Self-control

The wall of self-control safeguards us against loose feelings and emotions. It is the wall that strengthens and fortifies us against sin and temptation. An individual who loses self-control is compared to a city that lost its wall. Spiritually speaking, the man who loses self-control must have lost the spiritual wall surrounding his feelings and emotions. Any man will misbehave when the wall of self-control is broken down in his life. For example, Samson could not stop chasing strange women because his wall had been broken. He could not restrain himself from revealing the secret of his strength to Delilah, though he understood the implication (Judges 16:18-22). Solomon was reported as a man who loved God, and then later reported that he loved many strange women (1 Kings 3:3; 11:1). We can always trace every misconduct in a man’s life to a deficient spiritual wall of self-control.

There is no strong man anywhere every man is as strong as the spiritual wall surrounding his life and destiny. When a man loses the wall of self-control, he can become a slave to his emotions and feelings. Esau became a slave to his appetite. Hunger made him bargain his birthright for a morsel of food; he could not resist the sight of Jacob’s well-prepared potage (Hebrews 12:16-17). In 2024, we refuse to commit the error of Samson or repeat the mistake of Solomon, and we shall not follow the paths of Esau. It is for this reason we are seeking the Lord’s face for a wall of self-control around our lives, feelings, and emotions for July and for the whole year.

Prayer Points I

1. Let us appreciate God for July 2023 for His hand of guidance that guided, led, and directed the affairs of our lives and endeavours in 2023, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Let us begin to commit July 2024 into the hands of God, asking Him to establish the wall of self-control around our lives and families all through 2024 in the name of Jesus Christ (Proverbs 25:28)
3. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, our wall of self-control shall stand strong and firm around us and members of our family, safeguarding us against sin and temptation, in Jesus’ name (Proverbs 25:28)
4. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, we shall not become slaves of our feelings and emotions, but we shall exercise dominion and control over our emotions through the power of the Holy Spirit (1 Kings 3:3; 11:1)
5. Father, we declare and prophecy that throughout 2024, our wall of self-control shall abide in strength continually, resulting in great testimonies of maturity and spiritual advancement in Jesus’ name (Proverbs 4:18)
6. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, we shall not devise evil against the Lord and our neighbour as the Lord disciplines and strengthens our arms. We shall return to the Most High. We shall bless and not curse, and our spouses and children shall rise in victory by the Sword of the Lord, in Jesus’ name (Hosea 7:15-16).

Prayer Points II

1. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, through the operation of the wall of self-control, we shall not be disqualified in God’s sight; we shall discipline our body and bring it into subjection to serve the will of God in Jesus’ name (1 Corinthians 9:27)
2. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, anyone who accepted an assignment against our lives, our spouses, and our children shall fail in their mission, in the name of Jesus Christ (Judges 16:18-22)
3. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, no Delilah, whether a human or demonic entity, shall prosper in the multitude of their wickedness against us, our spouses, and children, in the name of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 54:17; Judges 16:18-22)
4. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, our wall of self-control shall be effective in our decision-making. We shall not decide by the hearing of the ear, by the seeing of the eyes or by the feeling of the flesh, but by the leading of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 11:1-3)
5. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, our wall of self-control shall be firm, ensuring that our love abounds more and more in knowledge and all discernment so that we may approve excellent things and be sincere without offences in Jesus’ name (Philippians 1:9-10).
6. Father, we declare and prophesy that throughout 2024, our wall of self-control shall be strong, enhancing our dominion over jealousy and envy. Our interactions with men and women shall not be guided with jealousy and envy, in Jesus’ name (Isaiah 11:13)
