The Benefits of Radical Intimacy
(Mat 6:33 NKJV) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Jesus encourages His followers to prioritize seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness above all else. This is an exhortation to radical intimacy with God, and the promise is that all other things will be given to us. The benefit of radical intimacy with God is immeasurable. When we draw near to Him with wholehearted devotion, we find ourselves transformed in countless ways. Our perspective on life changes, our priorities shift, and our hearts align with His will. The benefits of radical intimacy with God are not only spiritual but also emotional, mental, and physical.
One of the greatest benefits of radical intimacy is the peace that it brings. In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” When we are intimately connected to God, we experience a peace that surpasses all understanding, even during difficult circumstances.
Another benefit of radical intimacy is a deeper sense of purpose and direction. As we seek God’s will and align our hearts with His plans, we discover the unique gifts and talents He has given us, and we are empowered to fulfill the purpose for which we were created. In proverbs 3:6, we are told to “seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Furthermore, radical intimacy brings a greater sense of joy and contentment. When we find our satisfaction in God alone, we are no longer driven by the pursuit of worldly success or material possessions. Instead, we experience a deep and abiding joy from knowing and loving Him. In Psalm 16:11, we read, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
As we draw closer to God in radical intimacy, we will experience all of these benefits and more. So, let us pursue Him with all our hearts, knowing that in Him, we will find the truest and most profound expression of life, peace, joy, and purpose.
