The Realities of Warfare

Luke 13:31-32 (KJV) “The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.”

Devotional Thought

Warfare is one of the realities of life. There is always a battle to be fought; whether you are ready to fight or not is immaterial. In order not to be a victim and a loser, you need to develop a fighting spirit and be battle ready. Warfare has no respect for age, gender, color, religion, or social status. It is either you are fighting, or someone is fighting for you.

All you need to do, to test the reality of warfare, is to make progress and make news. If you cannot relate with what you are reading this morning, it is probably, because your star has not started shinning, or they have not spotted yours among the shining stars, or maybe you have succeeded, in concealing your story so far, and you have prevented the wrong ones from hearing it.

Jesus’ Taste of Warfare

Jesus faced the reality of warfare, from childhood. His warfare began, when Herod heard about His star from the wise men. The bible recorded, “When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled…” When Jesus started His ministry and the news of His exploit was all over the town, the Bible says, “Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed…”

When Herod the king heard about His star, he was troubled, when Herod the tetrarch heard about His success he was perplexed. Jesus did not interfere with their business, yet they always pick a fight with Jesus. While He was a child, His parent covered for Him, but as an adult, He has to face the battle by Himself.

Living Ready for Warfare

Warfare always arises, from the enemy’s camp with each progress you make in life. Your intellectual capital may earn you progress, but you need to develop your spiritual capital, to maintain that progress. Jesus confronted the Herod of His life, to fulfill His assignment, you will need to confront the Herod of your day not to sabotage your fulfilment.

The good news is your victory is sure, because you are a child of God. Jesus has given us power over all the power of the enemy. Don’t just sit down while the enemy seeks to destroy your star, and stop your progress, rise and enforce the victory you already have in Christ.

Let’s Talk About it.

How can we make victory in a battle an everyday experience?
