When You Hid Your Face

Psalms 30:7 (CSB) “LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain; when you hid your face, I was terrified.”

Devotional Thought

The face of God speaks of the friendship, the fellowship, and the favour of God. The Psalmist here speaks of the time the face of God was upon him, as the time when God showed him a favour. He recollected the effect of the face of God upon him, and he said, “You made me stand like a strong mountain.”

I pray this will be your testimony this year; the face of God shall be upon you continually, in the name of Jesus Christ. May the favour of God cause you to stand like a strong mountain in your field, industry, ministry, business, or marriage in the name of Jesus Christ.

The Psalmist also recollected the terrifying effect when God hid His face from his life. The hiding of God’s face in a man’s life is not a good sign, and no one should pray to experience it.

Humanity was subjected to the hiding of God’s face because of sin and became God’s enemy instead of God’s friend. The Bible says “But your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not listen”. But, thank God for Jesus, who did not hide His face from scorn and spitting, so that the face of God could be restored to, whoever will accept His sacrifice for sin. (Isaiah 50:6).

Today, God has every reason to keep His face upon us because of the righteousness of Christ, which has become our righteousness. This year, I pray that you will continually walk in righteousness and sin shall not have dominion over you, in Jesus’ name. May His face be upon you, and may your life be far from terror and trouble, in the name of Jesus Christ.
