1 Chronicles 12:18 (NKJV) “Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the captains, and he said: “We are yours, O David; We are on your side, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, And peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” So David received them, and made them captains of the troop.”
There is no self-made man anywhere. If told with all fairness, every success story will not fail to mention the roles of different individuals, at every stage of the process of greatness. There are helpers of destiny, that God has assigned, and positioned on the path, to make a man of destiny.
God brings us in contact with some, and bring some into our lives at the point when we need their ministry. It is very important to understand, that they are God’s chosen instruments ordained for specific assignments, in the making of a man of destiny. Many times, these helpers may not be on the list of people we expect, and they sometimes appear unqualified for the help we are expecting, but somehow, when God is ready to use them, they will perform.
While David was still hiding in the stronghold because of Saul’s attempt on his life, the sons of Benjamin and Judah came to help him. When David saw the sons of Judah, I believe he was not surprised, he could not expect anything less from his tribe. But, when he saw the sons of Benjamin (Saul’s tribe), he was scared to his bones, he was almost cursing, because he could not imagine help coming from the tribe of Benjamin.
But the Spirit of the Lord came upon Amasai and he said: “We are yours, O David; We are on your side, O son of Jesse!… peace to your helpers! For your, God helps you.” The sons of Benjamin were not on the list of helpers that David was expecting. It took the Spirit of the Lord to convince David, that the Benjamites have not come to betray but to help.
Please, learn this truth, whenever God is getting ready to help you, you must get ready for surprises. God cannot be limited, to the people you know, and the people you like; He makes His choices, without consideration for your preference. I hope you will be bold enough, to accept what is coming on your way, because this year, help will come for you, from the most unlikely people, and unimaginable places.
What will you do, when someone you have always been scared of, suddenly turns around to give you all the necessary assistance you ever needed?
Father, arise for my help, and bring helpers into my path this year, in Jesus’ name.
Do you find yourself sometimes wearied, with no strength to continue your journey?
