Theme: Securing the Wall of Blessings

Isaiah 49:15-16 (NKJV) “Can a woman forget her nursing child and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; *Your walls are continually before Me.*

Introduction

Walls are mentioned in several places throughout the Bible, and they often have symbolic and literal significance in biblical narratives. In ancient times, cities were often surrounded by walls for protection against enemies and invaders. These walls were an essential part of city defence, and their construction and maintenance were crucial. Some of these walls were called after the name of the city they surround or protect, like the walls of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 4:7), the walls of Babylon (Jeremiah 51:12), the walls of Tyrus (Ezekiel 26:4) or the walls of Jericho (Hebrews 11:30). Men built these physical walls to protect their cities.

However, the Bible reveals that walls are not only limited to natural walls built by men, but also spiritual walls built by God. For example, the Lord declares to Prophet Zechariah concerning His people, “For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” (Zechariah 2:5 KJV). God Himself is the wall around His people, and because He is the consuming fire, His wall takes His nature. He is the wall of fire around His people.

While men name their walls after the cities they protect and surround, the Lord names His walls after the purpose and the blessing they represent. For instance, Prophet Isaiah declares, “Listen to them singing! In that day the whole land of Judah will sing this song: “Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of his salvation!” (Isaiah 26:1 TLB). God establishes walls of salvation around His people, because His walls are ordained for that purpose.

The Walls of Salvation

For God’s people to experience the blessings ordained by God’s walls, they must call them by the names commanded by the Lord. He declared to them, “Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation.., (Isaiah 60:18 KJV). Although, God promised to be a wall of fire round about His people, He commanded the walls to be called the walls of salvation.

Apart from the purpose and the blessing of God’s walls, God’s attention is continually upon the walls He established around His people. The Bible says, “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me (Isaiah 49:16). There is a wall of fire around God’s people, and this wall manifests in various dimensions as walls of salvation, peace, wealth, strength, or saving health.

At this year’s prophetic prayer and fasting, we are visiting walls revealed in scriptures, and partnering with God to revive and strengthen our walls for 2024. We don’t want to leave the walls of our lives to chance. We trust God for His backing in fortifying the walls of blessings for our families, ministries, businesses, churches, and cities through prayer, fasting, and God’s promises.
