Discovering God’s calling on your life can be as easy as hearing the right message. Some of the men from Judah came to visit Nehemiah in Shushan the citadel. This where he was serving the king as a cupbearer. He asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity and concerning Jerusalem.

When he heard that the people at home were in great distress and reproach, he was sad. On hearing that the wall of Jerusalem was broken down, and its gates were burned with fire, he became devastated. The Bible says, “And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”

Why weren’t the people that shared the news with Nehemiah felt the same way? The answer is ‘the calling.’

Hearing the Right Message

Unknown to Nehemiah, while working as king’s chef, he was called, as a nation builder to lead God’s people. When it was time for Nehemiah to rise into his calling, the Lord allowed him to hear the right message. The right message led Nehemiah to discovering God’s call.

 Sometimes, some of the things we are allowed to hear and see can be a divine signal, to the assignment God has for us. Others heard what Nehemiah heard, but only Nehemiah responded with the right action. None of the people who brought the report to Nehemiah responded like Nehemiah did, because it was not their assignments.

God knows the button to press, to rouse within you, the love for the things He has called you to do in life. Watch what provokes you easily, and what excites you promptly, they may be links to what you are called to live for. There is a divine calling upon your life. You cannot afford to miss it, and you will not miss it, in Jesus’ name.
