James 5:17-18 (KJV) “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.”
Elijah’s prayer closed the heaven, restraining the rain from falling, for three years and six months, and Elijah’s prayer also unlocked the heaven, releasing the rain, upon the earth, after three years and six months. The Bible says, “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are…” In other words we can have the same testimony, if we follow the principle.
Prayer is an effective key that places signs and wonders, at the command of every believer. It engages the power of the God of signs and wonders, to effect desired changes on the earth. An effective prayer commands signs and wonders, especially when it is inspired, or in alignment with God’s word, or promises.
The secret to a wonder producing prayer is the word of God. The Bible says, “And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. Elijah’s prayer was in alignment with God’s promise. This is a core ingredient that is missing, in most of our prayers- the word of God.
Elijah’s prayer secret is found in what the Lord promised to do. The promise motivated Elijah, to persist in prayer, even when, there was no sign of rain in the sky. He was so sure; it was going to rain, because God said so. Wonder producing prayers, are word based prayers. When you can locate a promise of God, for the situation at hand, you can provoke signs and wonders, in the place of prayer.
God doesn’t just respond to prayers, He responds to His word, in our prayers. When our prayers do not express His promises, our lives will not experience His wonders. I see the sign of His hand, in the cloud over your life. I can hear the sound of the abundance of rain. Before this month ends, there shall be a torrent of testimonies, in your life, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Father, I acknowledge You, as the rain Maker. Release the rain of Your kindness upon my life throughout this month, in Jesus’ name.
