Devotional Thought

Self-reliance could be self-destructive; it can disconnect a believer, from the omnipotence of God. There is hardly very little, if any, that a man can do all by himself, without God’s backing.

We need God every day of our lives, and He is available every moment, as our Father and Helper. We know this truth, but most often, we are always tempted to start out, trusting ourselves, until the reality of our insufficiency stirs at us, in the middle of life challenges.

Paul reporting about his missionary journey to Asia confessed how they were weighed down exceedingly beyond their power, with series of challenges. Probably, they thought they can handle it by themselves, but finally, they realized it is beyond their power.

Consequently, they turned to the Lord, the Bible says, “But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves, and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.”

I don’t know what you are going through right now, but I can assure you, if your reliance is on your ability, or human connection, just like Paul and his team, it will weigh you down exceedingly.

However, if you will change the direction of your reliance and put it in the Lord, who raises the dead, He will turn it around. No case can be declared dead when the Lord who raises the dead is involved.

The Lord is saying, “give it to me and I will bear it.” You have relied on self and on men without result; it is time to rely on the God of resurrection.

I see every stone rolled against your case rolled away, by the mighty hand of the God of resurrection. I see the resurrection power working for you this week, as you put your trust in Him, in Jesus’ name.
