Resist the Devil

James 4:7 (NKJV) “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Devotional Thought

As a believer, you have the authority to resist the devil and trample, over all the power of the enemy. The enemy you are contending with is the devil that has been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ. You only need to exercise your authority in Christ, over the activities of the enemy.

The Holy Spirit, through James the apostle revealed, that the devil is resistible. You can resist the devil from operating in your life, family, finances, marriage, or ministry and he will flee from you. However, your effectiveness in resisting the devil in any area of your life depends on your submission to God.

Many of us desire to exercise our authority in Christ, but we are reluctant to submit to the authority of Christ. We are quick to resist the devil but slow to submit to God. The devil does not have any authority, over anything that belongs to us, except the authority we give him, through our disobedience to God’s authority in our life.

Watch it, the enemy will always remain irresistible, in any area of your life, that is not fully submitted to God. So, whenever you pray, bind and resist with no result, it is time to turn that area over to God, in total submission to His will. Paul says, we are ready to punish all disobedience, only when our obedience is fulfilled.

I pray that your submission to God and His authority will grow this year in the name of Jesus Christ. This year, the enemy will not be able to resist or defy your authority in Christ, in Jesus’ name.

Let’s Talk About It:
