He Breathed On Them

John 20:22 (KJV) “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:”

Devotional Thought

The creation account says, And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Everything that Jesus Christ went through from crucifixion, to resurrection was to restore man to his original state and status.

When Jesus resurrected, He repeated what the Father did to Adam, to make him a living soul. The Bible says, “And when he had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, receive ye the Holy Ghost:”

What makes a man less than what he was created to be, is the absence of the breath of life, the Holy Spirit. As long as a man is void of the breath of God, he is a dead soul, and he lacks God’s ability to fulfill the fourfold mandate given to man, by God. There are many dead souls still walking around the globe, while Jesus Christ had already paid the price for the redemption of their souls.

Redemption is the only way to getting back to God’s original, ordained status for man. Everyone needs to accept Jesus’ sacrifice, and invite Jesus into his life as His Lord and saviour. The Lord is a merciful and a loving Father, a faithful promise keeper, who follows through the process, no matter how long, to keep His word.

He gave it to us, in Genesis 2:7; but we lost it, in Genesis 3:7 and He restored it to us, in John 20:22. You were created in the image and the likeness of God. You were ordained to breathe His breath and to live His life. Don’t live less than your original status, get connected to Jesus Christ.
