How to Find Rest for Your Souls

Matthew 11:28-29 (NLT) “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Devotional Thought

We all experience stress and distress, at one point or the other in our lives. Sometimes the issue of heartbreak, unfulfilled dreams, unrealized visions, unresolved differences, delayed promises, or unconcerned partners, could be so heavy, for our souls to bear. In such a season, you need a burden bearer and burden lifter and we found one in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus offers an invitation to those, who labour and are heavy laden.

What Jesus said then, He is still saying today, He is as much interested in those who are weary and carrying heavy burdens today, as He was, the day He made this statement. God has never been intimidated by the stress and distress of humanity. He is ever ready to help; He is your very present help in times of trouble. If you are wearied and tired of carrying heavy burdens, and if your soul needs rest, Jesus is interested in your case.

There is a promise of rest in Christ Jesus, for every wearied soul. But, the journey to lasting rest begins, by taking His yoke upon you, not just by dropping your burden before Him. Many have come, and dropped their burden at His feet and walked away. Total rest does not become a reality, by merely dropping our burden at His feet, but by totally submitting and remaining yoked together with Him. Our being yoked with Him, guarantees total rest, even in the midst of trouble.

Let’s talk about it:

What do you need to surrender to God during this season so that you can find rest?
