My Heart is Awake

Song of Songs 5:2-3 (HCSB) “I sleep, but my heart is awake. A sound! My love is knocking! Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my perfect one. For my head is drenched with dew, my hair with droplets of the night. I have taken off my clothing. How can I put it back on? I have washed my feet. How can I get them dirty?”

Devotional Thought

Our spirit always longs for a time of fellowship with the Lord, because of the influence of the indwelling Holy Spirit; but our flesh is not. When our spirit is awake, with the readiness to respond to God’s advances for fellowship, the flesh longs for a sleep.

Anything spiritual never appeals to the flesh. You will notice that you are so alert when you are watching a television program, but the moment you pick your bible to read, or go on your knees to pray, you begin to yawn.

You could sense a burden to pray, yet the flesh is saying you are too tired, why not sleep a bit and pray when you wake up. The flesh will always give you reasons, why this is not the right time for prayer, or fellowship.

Your feelings will not always line up with your desire to fellowship with God. If you subject your fellowship with God, to your feelings, you will never have any consistent and meaningful time of fellowship with God.

Don’t forget your time of fellowship with God it is a time of advantage and advancement in the spirit. You must not exchange it for anything. Adam and Eve exchanged it for a bite of the forbidden fruit, and they were left with fear and insecurity. I pray that will not be your portion, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Let’s Talk About It?

How do you manage the seasons, when you don’t feel like praying, or reading your bible?

Prayer Starter:

Father, I receive the grace to live above the dictates of the flesh, in my pursuit of You, in Jesus’ name.
