Jesus exhibited many life-winning principles in the pursuit of His mission. One of such principles is seen underscored in our text today. When Jesus and His disciples got to Samaria, the bible recorded that, being wearied from His journey, He sat by the well. His disciples went into the city to get them something to eat.
When they returned, they met Him sharing the gospel with the Samaritan woman. When they urged Him to eat, He told them, He had food to eat of which they did not know. While they reasoned whether someone had brought food for Him, Jesus made a statement that revealed one of His life principles.
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.” (John 4:34). Evidently, as a matter of principle, Jesus esteemed His life assignment, more than His necessary food. This implies that Jesus rates and celebrates His purpose in life above the pleasure of this life.
No wonder, He made such an impact within the space of three and a half years. Success does not just come to you, because you are a Christian; success comes, through the application of principles.
Every serious-minded believer should embrace Jesus’ life-winning principle for sure destiny fulfilment. Our life assignment must be esteemed, more than our necessary food, and our purpose above the pleasure of life, for fulfillment to be a reality.
Don’t forget, that there was a man in the bible, who esteemed his necessary food more than his birthright, his name is Esau. Here is what the bible says about him, “lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.”
Many today go after life’s pleasure, at the expense of their life assignment. Don’t let the pleasure of life, rob you of your purpose in life. I pray, that your purpose in life becomes more valuable to you, than all the pleasure of this life put together, in Jesus’ name.
Is there anything more valuable to you than your assignment?
Father, I receive grace to follow Your plan for my life, above any other thing, in Jesus’ name.
