Job 36:10-12 (NKJV) “He also opens their ear to instruction, and commands that they turn from iniquity. 11. If they obey and serve [Him], They shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. 12. But if they do not obey, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.”
Prosperity and pleasure have their place in God’s agenda for His children. God wants us to spend our days in prosperity, and our years in pleasure. We see this demonstrated through Job’s life; he spent his days in prosperity and his years in pleasure. Abraham similarly spent his days in prosperity and his years in pleasure. However, daily prosperity and yearly pleasure, lean toward those who engage in the power of obedience and service.
The Bible says, “If they obey and serve [Him], They shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” Prosperity and pleasure are the heritage of those who obey and serve Him. It should be noted, that prosperity and pleasure are achievable without God, but prosperity and pleasure without sorrow are impossible without God.
Your obedience to His command puts His blessings at your command. Prophet Isaiah declares by the Spirit of prophecy, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” God has no problem blessing His people; He is only concerned with our readiness to obey. Many want to prosper and enjoy life, but they are not ready to follow instructions. Prosperity followed Abraham, because He followed God’s instruction.
We are saved to serve. The scripture says, “To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear” -(Luke 1:74 NKJV). You don’t have to be a pastor or an evangelist to serve God. Abraham was not a pastor, nor was Job an evangelist, yet the Bible recognizes them as God’s servants. Whatever you do for a living, do it as a service unto the Lord, with joy and gladness of heart, and His abundance will answer to you. -(Deuteronomy 28:47).
Prosperity and pleasure are possible, through the power of obedience and service. As we engage the power of obedience and service, we can spend our days in prosperity and our years in pleasure.
